How can i find a spot?

Let's say you've booked your hotel for friday night (example: hotel x in Tibeca), and you will be driving to NYC. Your next step would be to bring up the NYPE home page and use the "Pick Location and Time" functionality. Fill in the address of your hotel, and set the date and time information. Below is a sample screen that might result:
NOTE: In this case the address is set to : 260 Sullivan St, and the time / date is set to 4pm Friday

Any street segments in Green indicate free parking at that time. The Tabs extending perpendicular from Green coded street segments are color coded, and indicate how long the free parking will last for. If you zoom in the map you can see the duration specified in hours. Zooming out the map gives you an indication of your best chances to find parking in a general area. (NOTE: The further you zoom out, the longer it will take for your browser to update the map information.)

If you click on any of the Black circles on a street segment, the sign information will be displayed, as illustrated above. By playing around with your arrival time, along with reading the relevant street sign information near your desired parking location, you can determine when certain street segments will change from say "NO PARKING" to free parking. (NOTE: future releases may provide this information for you). For example, the east section of Sullivan St between Prince & Spring St has "No Parking 8am-5pm Mon Thru Fri". Knowing this you can arrive at this spot prior to 5pm, and wait till 5pm, and have free parking till Monday at 8am. See below:
NOTE: All sign / parking information is not guaranteed to be accurate, and you must verify and comply with the physical DOT signs displayed at your parking location.

The above example demonstrates how to use the location / time & date information to find free on street parking.
